The Hosted Cocktail Party Rehearsal

Naltrexone Trial & Demonstration Test Drive:

The hosted Cocktail Party Rehearsal

This is a  hosted event-- usually to be held on a Saturday night, that is part of the retreat package.

Clients  and their spouses/partners will have their first experience with taking Naltrexone and drinking under controlled clinical conditions. There will be  medical supervision in attendance  to monitor for any reactions or  side-effects to Naltrexone ingestion, and to provide coaching and support if necessary.

Such  "rehearsal" or "trial run" for our client/guest and their spouse/ partner, is to demonstrate  drinking in a social situation (as a staged cocktail  party) while using Naltrexone,  designed to mitigate your initial fears and anxieties, inspire  confidence in your loss of desire to binge, and provide an opportunity  to analyze the experience.

We will offer an "open bar", and we will have coaches in attendance to mentor the spouses and partners to help them feel more secure and confident.  This will be an "ah-ha" defining moment and turning-point, as the cure for alcoholism to achieve extinction of cravings -- requires drinking, and is antithetical to, and a total reversal of the mindset and philosophy of mainstream 12-step based abstinence.

This "trial run" or "test drive"  is a sanctioned and controlled environment demonstration of the efficacy of the  endorphin blocking mechanism-- and is a real-world alternative to simply  providing a Naltrexone prescription  to a patient and leaving them on their own to "experiment" with  drinking after medication dosing, and to be courageous to attempt this  initiation on their own.

This  controlled drinking experience is an "ice breaker"-- a practical  demonstration to the subjects and their spouses/partners to give them a  degree of confidence and comfort with, and understanding of the  interaction of the Naltrexone with the sequenced consumption of alcohol-- that renders the subjects'  cravings unsatisfied, and the resulting mitigation or cessation of the  need to binge... which is everyone's greatest fear-- that having a drink  or two while medicated-- will devolve into a binge-drinking episode. With the proper procedures and protocols followed, the client/guest will find that they will be able to drink without fear that they will lose control, and the evening will culminate with a gourmet dinner, and a feeling that they can control their drinking, and not be driven by the need for another drink.

This  is real-life event conducted under medical supervision and monitoring,  and is necessary for medical evaluation and records to determine any  adverse side effects to a client, as well as having the comfort and  sanction of drinking-- without the previously usual result.

This  event is crucial not only for the client's confidence in the method,  but equally for the partner's or spouses' normal and reactive  trepidation to their mate drinking, and change their normal and  patterned response of dread  and terror, to that of "teamwork" in  understanding that the drinking is a scientific protocol that is a  necessary evil.

The  clients will be asked to make notes of their perceived experiences of  the effects each drink in an informal and social setting... that will  feel like a soiree, replete with appetizers, and dinner. They also will  have the opportunity to try out the drink monitoring app on their cell  phone, that will be provided to them.
